What Is The Depth Of The Sound Field?

- Nov 15, 2018-

The sound field depth refers to the distance between the foremost instrument and the last line instrument in the sound field. In the orchestra, the distance between the violin and the bass drum and the timpani drum.

The depth of the sound field is different from the sense of layering and positioning. The sense of layering refers to the state and clarity of the different instruments in the sound field. The positioning refers to the sense of agglomerated body in the two speakers.

Usually, what we hear is that the sense of depth is not obvious, and the distance between the front and the back is not flat, including some very high-priced audio combinations.

If you want to create a better sound field depth, you should absorb sound instead of spreading. If you want to place some instruments in the distance, in addition to reducing its high-frequency imitation air to high-frequency sound absorption characteristics, you also need to reduce some of the low frequency below 150 or 200Hz to enhance the distance illusion.
