What Is Paraboloid Microphone?

- Sep 18, 2018-

A parabolic microphone, also called a sound collector, is formed by placing an omnidirectional microphone at the focus of a paraboloid. Due to the focusing effect of the paraboloid, the distant sound waves are picked up by the microphone through focusing. This type of microphone is only effective for high-frequency short-wavelength sound waves, and loses its effect at low frequencies, so it is mostly used for long-distance pickup in environments such as sports games or bird sounds.
