What Is Directionality?

- Oct 24, 2018-

Directivity is a function of the transducer response in a given plane through the acoustic center as a function of the direction of the transmitted or incident acoustic wave when the frequency is fixed. The low-frequency radiation of many noise sources is almost non-directional, and its directivity increases as the frequency increases. This is because the time at which the radiated sound waves reach different points in the space is different due to different parts of the vibration source, so that directional radiation that is unevenly formed due to interference occurs. The directivity of the microphone is divided into omnidirectional directionality, cardioid directionality, supercardioid directionality.
