(1) Adjustment of input level
When adjusting the input level, it is best not to connect with the speaker. First connect the headphone jack of the mixer with headphones to monitor the output audio signal, then push the fader potentiometers of the left and right master channels to the minimum and gradually push up. It is possible to monitor until the input signal is heard.
When all the sources are connected, turn the system on and adjust the sensitivity of the signal received by each channel. First, set the minimum sensitivity of the input channel, and then adjust it slowly. The specific method is: first set the attenuator (PAD) switch to ON, set the gain (GAIN) to -20dB, and place the fader attenuator in the range of 5-10, and the source signal on the first channel. (CD player, LD machine or vocal, instrument sound, etc.) is expressed in the maximum volume of the actual performance, while observing the overload display, if the display is on, the level of the output source signal should be lowered.
In general, increase the input gain (GAIN) to adjust its optimum level until the peak overload indicator light just flashes at the maximum peak value. However, if the gain control (GAIN) is turned to the maximum, the peak display light is still off. At this time, the gain button can be adjusted to the minimum, the PAD of the buffer is turned OFF, and the gain control is slowly turned on until the peak display lamp Shine; if the indicator light is still off, you should check that the wiring is correct.
In addition, when the peak overload display is displayed, it indicates that the level is 3 dB worse than the overload peak level. In performance, it is normal for the display to briefly flash at the loudness of the audio signal, and the degree of adjustment of the level signal is also desirable. However, if the display flashes frequently, the signal level (or mixer gain) is too large and should be suppressed.
(2) After a channel is adjusted
Push the fader attenuator to the minimum and then adjust the other channel to prevent the noise of the previous channel from interfering with the adjustment of the other channel. When all the channels are adjusted, put the fader attenuators of the left and right master channels to the minimum position, close the mixer; then connect with the speaker to open the mixer; then you can push the master channel The sub-attenuator is gradually pushed up to adjust to the appropriate operating level.
(3) For the adjustment of the input level, attention should also be paid to matching
When the input level is adjusted separately, the speaker cannot be connected, the signal can be monitored through the headphones, then the main fader can be set to the minimum level, and then the output level is slowly increased until it feels appropriate. When all the sound sources are connected, the entire system can be turned on. Here, the matching of the input sensitivity of each signal is very important, and each channel should be adjusted separately.
(4) Use of channel faders and master fader attenuators
The position of the channel fader depends mainly on the adjustment. The general channel fader setting has its optimal range, in which the audio signal has the least noise and distortion and maximum adjustability. In the EMX series, this range is between 5-15 scales of the fader.
(5) When determining the input master fader
At the same time, you should also pay attention to the display of the VU meter. The reading of the VU meter cannot exceed the OVU scale. Above this number, the level is too high and the power amplifier will be subject to signal distortion due to overload. Note that any level change in the input channel will affect the total output level. Finally, the main fader is adjusted in a small step, but if the main fader cannot be set to the appropriate high and low scale (less than or equal to 20 or greater than or equal to 5), the channel input level is not adjusted and needs to be adjusted again until the main fader Push in the appropriate position and the VU meter has an appropriate indication.
