What Is X/Y System?

- Aug 06, 2018-

The X/Y system uses two identical microphones, which are placed close together and placed coaxially. Unlike the A/B system, since the two microphones are basically placed at one point, the sound information transmitted by any sound source will reach the two microphones at the same time, so there is no time difference and phase difference. However, for the two microphones, the microphone has a certain directivity due to the difference of the incident angle, so the two-channel sound information picked up has a difference in intensity. Therefore, the X/Y system is an intensity difference stereo sound pickup system, which is also called a phase difference-free stereo system.
