What Is the Difference Between MIDI and Normal Audio Files?

- Nov 09, 2018-

1. The file size is different

A MIDI song that can play for about 5 minutes, its capacity is only a hundred Kbytes. The waveform music file of the same song, such as WAV, is as high as 50MB, even if it is compressed by MP3 technology; it has a size of 5MB.

2. Differences in music records

The MIDI file itself is not music, but a pronunciation command. The MIDI file itself is just a digital signal and does not contain any sound information. WAV records the waveforms of sounds and converts them into digital information, which is significantly larger than just a simple descriptive MIDI file.
