What Is Quantization Error?

- Jul 26, 2018-

The quantization error refers to the difference between the actual analog value and the number used to represent the analog value. When the actual analog value falls between two quantization levels, a quantization error is generated. Quantization will specify the closest level. Quantization errors introduce noise and distortion into the digital sound. Rough sounds are usually heard at low levels, especially when the reverb is attenuated.
