What Is Passive Crossover?

- Jun 20, 2018-

Passive crossover is also known as power divider. A frequency divider network is set between the power amplifier and the speaker by using an LC filter inside the speaker to divide the audio signal. The power audio signal output by the power amplifier is divided by an LC filter to be distributed to each field device according to different frequency bands. The passive frequency division method is simple, low cost, and convenient to use. The disadvantage is that the frequency division network needs to flow a large current, so a larger volume of the inductor is used, and because its parameters have a direct relationship with the speaker impedance, the impedance of the speaker It is a function of the frequency and deviates from the nominal value, so the error is large and adjustment is difficult.
