What Is Hearing Loss?

- Jul 02, 2018-

Hearing loss is generally divided into mechanical conduction loss and neurosensory loss. Mechanical conduction loss is caused by obstruction of the external auditory canal, damage to the eardrum or ossicular system. Neurosensory loss is caused by a decline in auditory nerve function in the cochlea. Sometimes, conduction nerves and brain hearing reductions and disorders of the central function can also cause hearing loss. Mechanical conduction losses do not exceed 50 to 55 decibels, because even if the mechanical conduction of the outer ear and middle ear is lost, conduction through the vibration of the skull can also cause fluid movement in the inner ear, and neurosensory loss can range from a few decibels to full deuterium.
