What Is Compression Expansion Noise Reduction Method?

- Aug 27, 2018-

The compression expansion noise reduction method uses a compressor to compress the dynamic range of the input signal during recording, and then expands and restores with an expander during playback to increase the noise ratio of the low-level signal, which is difficult to obtain both ends of the companding fully complementary characteristics, easy to produce distortion, easy to overshoot when the signal suddenly increases, and also prone to noise wheezing, that is, the size of the noise changes with the increase or decrease of the signal level, so it is not suitable for high-fidelity recorders to reduce noise, but it is the basis of many noise reduction systems.
