What Is Absorption Attenuation?

- Jul 26, 2018-

When sound waves propagate in a solid medium, the internal friction between the particles is caused by the viscosity of the medium, so that a part of the acoustic energy is converted into heat energy. At the same time, due to the heat conduction of the medium, the heat exchange between the dense and sparse parts of the medium is performed, which leads to the loss of sound energy, which is the absorption phenomenon of the medium. This attenuation of the medium is called absorption attenuation. It is generally believed that the absorption attenuation is proportional to the square of the frequency of the acoustic wave and the square of the frequency.
