What Is A Directional Microphone?

- May 10, 2018-

Directional microphone: According to the polar pattern, the sound coming from the front is more sensitive than the sound from the back. The directional microphone has two openings at both ends of the diaphragm, one on each side. The vibration of the diaphragm depends on the phase relationship and depends on the pressure difference at both ends. A fine acoustic filter at the front end of the posterior acoustical hole acts as a delay, so that the sound from the back can reach the diaphragm at the same time from the two front and rear acoustic holes, and the polar pattern of the directional microphone presents the heart shape.
