What Are Electrostatic Earphones?

- Aug 14, 2018-

Electrostatic earphones: Also known as electrostatic planar diaphragms, aluminum (or other conductive metal) coils are directly plated or printed on a thin plastic film placed in a strong electrostatic field (usually by a DC high voltage generator and a fixed metal). The film (network) consists of cutting the electric field as the signal passes through the coil, causing the diaphragm to vibrate. The advantage is that the linearity is good, the distortion is small (the electric field is more uniform than the magnetic field), the transient response is good (the diaphragm quality is light), and the high frequency response is good. The disadvantage is that the low frequency response is not good, requires a special drive circuit and an electrostatic generator, and is expensive. The efficiency is not high.
