Comparison Between Two-way Speakers and Three-way Speakers

- Jul 24, 2018-

The divide-by-2 is composed of a high-pass filter and a low-pass filter, and the third-divider adds a band-pass filter because the filter exhibits a slope with a certain slope. The attenuation characteristic theoretically requires that the attenuation rate of the filter is as large as possible. This is because the intersection of the fading phase in the adjacent district is called the frequency division point, and there is an overlapping frequency band near the frequency division point. In the frequency band of the loan near the point, there will be two speakers together to make a sound. When the speaker response is smooth, the attenuation characteristics of the frequency divider are also ideal. The larger the single attenuation rate, the more components and the more complicated the structure, the more difficult the adjustment.

Therefore, compared to the high-pitched sound of the two-way speaker, the three-way speaker will have three high-pitched sounds, and the transition process will be more gentle and soft. If the speaker responds to peaks and valleys, there will be no obvious cliff sounds in the sense of hearing. Especially when listening to relatively soft vocals, the effect of ethereal twirling is even better, but at the same time it is more difficult to select the horn, and the cost and technical difficulty have to be increased.

In theory, the two-way crossover is simple in construction, smaller in size, and lower in cost than the three-way speaker, but the disadvantage is that the sound level is insufficient. The three-way high-frequency low-frequency transition is more peaceful, but the crossover requirements are more demanding, the quality and technical requirements of the crossover are higher, and the cost is naturally higher.
